Charism and Spirituality

The Charism of the Society of Kristudasis (Handmaids of Christ) is ‘Servanthood to Christ.’ It is modeled after Christ, who humbled himself, taking the form of a slave and was obedient unto death, a death on the cross (Phil. 2:7-8). The Kristudasis are to conform themselves to the mystery of the Servanthood of Christ who “emptied himself, taking the form of a servant” (Phil 2:7). The Servanthood of Jesus was a means to encounter God in a comprehensible way.

The Charism of the SKD draws its inspiration from the Blessed Mother who accepted the plan of God saying “I am the handmaid of Lord” (Lk 1:38). She is the Mother and heavenly patroness of the SKD. From the moment of the Annunciation until Calvary, “Mary followed Jesus step by step’ in her faith
